Sky map: star gazing

August 17th, 2005

I have always tried to sky gaze, locate planets, constallations without help but never succeeded :(
I even tried printing out skymaps on transparent OHP Sheets etc, but couldnt even orient the sheet in the first place :D

But this website looks good, it helps one produce sky maps in by observing location(lat, long), time and date, viewpoint.
CHk: YOUR SKY

Its jus amazing to jus lie down flat (jobless) and gaze at the night sky,you can see thousands of stars with your naked eyes….they are stars, planets n satellites.

Tip1: Try this from hill tops, beaches or from less polluted areas, you can see a overcrowed.
Tip 2: Keep your wishest ready before your star gazing session, cos you are sure to spot shooting stars ;)

Roger, I still have ‘the’ problem.

August 8th, 2005

I have a huge problem with file management :(

Hierarchies are too hard to set up and even harder to maintain. Hierarchy is a classification structure comprised of fixed parent-child relationships. Tagsomonies, tagging is unnatural more over today the mechanism of taging turns me down. ( Is there any tagging software for files on windows? )

  • I find heirarchies insufficient! and tough to stick to.
  • Tree maps tough to read and navigate.
  • Trees to Piles of Leaves not happening !!
  • I developed “viewport”- an alternative for windows explorer, attempting to fix file management problems, with tools and displaying usage patters, visual cues to get to your file on a treemap. ( viewport is a concept/prototype and will write a detailed article soon)

But the problem we are talkign about is beyond that. I was hoping for Longhorn (win FS) to save me…. now it is clearly a distant dream,we need Magic !!!

Currently Google desktop is giving me a (temporary) relief :)
Is it possible to construct the perfect classification system? Lets see.

I recently watched Walking life and Before sunset, and both of them were truely AMAZING MOVIEs, Later realised that they were from the same director..Richard Linklater

Amazing narration, distinct style, very powerful script, philosophical yet lite.
